R. Kelly has been sentenced to 20 years in Chicago!

The judge in his sex crimes case ordered that 19 of the years will be served concurrently with his current sentence, while the remaining year will be served consecutively. The prosecution had recommended a 25-year sentence on top of the time he is already serving in prison.

Kelly was accused of abusing four people, three of whom were minors, and faced charges of child pornography. The jury found him guilty on six of the 13 charges, including the child pornography counts, but acquitted him on charges of conspiracy and enticement. U.S. Attorney Jon Lausch had earlier stated that Kelly's sentencing could range from 10 to 90 years.

Despite Kelly's earlier conviction and the possibility of a lifetime lockup, charges against him by Cook County State Attorney Kim Foxx were dropped in January. Kelly's attorney Jennifer Bonjean had explained that Foxx decided not to pursue the case. Currently, Kelly is serving a 30-year sentence for federal racketeering from a conviction in New York. Although this recent sentence may not significantly affect his time in prison, it marks a further blow to his already tarnished reputation.
