Happy Birthday Jessie Reyez!

Jessie hit the scene in 2014, when she and King Louie released "Living in the Sky", and then "It Hurts (Selena)", in 2015. In 2017, she released "Shutter Island" and toured Europe, while her follow-up single, "Figures", premiered and peaked at number 58 on the Canadian Hot 100.

She would release her debut EP, Kiddo, followed by her short film Gatekeeper, which addressed sexism and exploitation in the music industry. Kiddo peaked at number 83 on the Canadian Album Chart and She received two iHeartRadio Much Music Video Awards nominations for "Shutter Island".

Jessie would be nominated for two 2018 MTV Music Video Awards, and performed "Figures" at the 2017 BET Awards. She would top 2017 off by signing a record deal with Island Records.

Reyez would collaborate with Eminem on "Nice Guy" and "Good Guy", from the album Kamikaze, and Reyez released the single "Imported" featuring 6lack. The single went Gold, as she appeared in the Netflix film, Someone Great and appeared on The Lion King: The Gift, co-writing the song "Scar".

Reyez released her debut album, Before Love Came to Kill Us, in 2020, which featured Eminem, 6lack, Rico Nasty, Melii, JID, and A Boogie wit da Hoodie. The album debuted at #13 on the Billboard 200 and Reyez was featured in Beyoncé's musical film Black Is King.

Reyez released her second album, Yessie, this year, with 11 tracks, featuring a collab with 6lack on the song "Forever". Jessie stopped by The Beat studios and talked about so much like the name of her album, her time in South Florida and why she is the way she is!
