Elton John In Talks To Record New Song With Beyonce For 'Lion King' Remake

posted by James Dinh -

Beyoncé will voice the character of Nala in the upcoming remake of The Lion King and also appear on the closing credit track of the film if Sir Elton John has it his way, according to his new interview with The Sun via NME.

John, who is reuniting with his former Lion King soundtrack collaborator, Tim Rice, will return to the studio to record a new track to close out the film. "They need to have a new end credits song," he told the publication. "There's going to be four of our songs in the film, from the original: "Can You Feel The Love Tonight," "Hakuna Matata," "I Just Can't Wait To Be King" and "Circle of Life."

"And then there will be an end, closing song, and we've been speaking to Beyoncé’s people and hopefully Tim and I and her can cook up something," he continued. "That's going out in 2019 as well. And it will be great to work with her. So we will see."

Disney's live-action remake of the beloved '90s animation is set to be released in 2019 and features a string of stars. While Donald Glover is set to voice Simba, James Earl Jones will reprise his role as Mufasa. Seth Rogan, Alfre Woodard and John Oliver will also be part of the star-studded cast. In the meantime, take a walk down memory lane and spin Sir Elton John's original 1994 hit, "Can You Feel the Love Tonight," for some good ol' memories.
