Naya Rivera's Death Certificate Reveals She Drowned 'In Minutes'

Naya Rivera drowned "in minutes," per her death certificate.

On Thursday (July 30), The Daily Mail obtained the Glee alum's document after almost a month since her body was discovered in Lake Piru in Southern California after almost a six-day search. The death certificate reveals that the star was laid to rest last Friday at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Rivera’s autopsy previously revealed no underlying ailments, and no drugs or alcohol in her system.

As you know, Rivera took her 4-year-old son, Josey Dorsey, out to the lake, where the two rented a pontoon. The child told authorities that he and his mom went for a swim, but things went awry when she boosted him onto the deck from behind. Once he looked back, he saw her disappear under the surface of the water. "We know from speaking with her son, that he and Naya swam in the lake together at some point during their journey. It was during that time that her son described being helped into the boat by Naya, who boosted him onto the deck from behind," Ventura County Sheriff Bill Ayub said, per Entertainment Weekly. Hours later, he was found asleep on the craft and wrapped up in a towel with his life jacket on.

Since her passing, a number of folks, including her ex-husband, Ryan Dorsey, younger sister, Nickayla, ex-boyfriend Big Sean, as well as the cast of Glee, have come forward to pay their respects to the star. She was 33.
