How To Honor Patriot Day In Middle Georgia

Tomorrow will mark 18 years since the September 11, 2001 terror attacks. To recognize and honor Patriot Day, there will be many events around Middle Georgia you can attend.

Macon-Bibb County

The Macon-Bibb County Law Enforcement Foundation, Fire Department, and Sheriff's office will participate in a 9/11 Memorial event starting at 8:45 a.m. on Sept. 11 at the Public Safety Memorial Park, located at Second St. and Mulberry St. in downtown Macon. Bibb County deputies and firefighters will host a Presentation of Colors. First responders will also place a wreath at the Memorial, bagpiper Don Bray will play Amazing Grace, and the Georgia State Patrol will conduct a flyover.

Houston County

Houston County will recognize Patriot Day with a memorial on September 11 at Warner Robins City Hall at 700 Watson Blvd. The event starts at 8:30 a.m.

Baldwin County

Georgia Military College in Milledgeville will host a Patriot Day Ceremony on September 11 starting at 7:40 a.m. There will be a scholarship presentation and wreath-laying for GMC students affected by the Global War on Terror. GMC will also record the names of the people who lost their lives on 9/11 and the names of the individuals who have fought in the Global War on Terror. GMC's Milledgeville campus is located at 201 E. Greene St.

Laurens County

A ceremony, moment of silence, and white dove release will be held at the First Responder Memorial Flame. You can park at Dublin First Church of the Nazarene, 312 Telfair St. in Dublin. The event starts at 8 a.m. on September 11.

The Carl Vinson VA Medical Center will honor Patriot Day with a moment of silence while raising the American flag on September 11 at 9 a.m. on the facility's front lawn. The Dublin VA Police Department will raise the flag and lower it to half-staff to honor the victims. The Carl Vinson VA Medical Center is located at 1826 Veterans Blvd. in Dublin.
