Listen to Common on iHeartRadio

Rapper Common is dishing the details on his upcoming album with producer No I.D.

In an interview with Diddy's Revolt TV, the Chicago-born emcee reveals that the album will be titled Nobody's Smiling.  While the project was originally slated to be an EP, he decided to turn it into a full length album because he and No I.D. have been "making a lot of songs."

The "common sense" rapper explains that he chose the title of Nobody's Smiling to reflect the violence sweeping Chicago's inner city.  While the title echoes the mood on the streets, Common says it is also a "call to action."

Meantime, Common also praised the Chicago hip-hop scene.  He says the younger Chicago artists have "brought something new to hip-hop" by capturing the city's unique lingo as well as its diversity.
